Why might my Reach or Impressions look different across services?

Written by Ellen

It’s common to see differences when comparing metrics between platforms. That’s because not all services calculate them the same way.

Possible reasons include:

  • Unique vs Total Visitors: Some providers report total visits to a site, while we use unique visitors (each person is only counted once).

  • Geographic adjustments: We adjust online traffic figures for country share, while some services report global audiences.

  • Different CPM benchmarks: PR Value calculations rely on CPMs, and different services may use different rates.

  • Platform-specific definitions: Some platforms blur the line between Reach and Impressions, while we keep them clearly separate.

Why our approach is different

We have standardised definitions and consistent methodologies across online, print, and social. This means you can trust that comparisons are accurate and meaningful, rather than inflated or inconsistent.
