Let's define Impressions
Impressions measure the total number of times your content could have been viewed. Unlike Reach, which measures potential audience, Impressions capture frequency (how many times the content may have been seen).
How do we calculate Impressions?
Instagram Stories: Mentions × Followers.
Instagram Posts: Mentions × Followers.
TikTok: Based on total views.
Online Media: Mentions × Unique Monthly Visitors (UMV).
Print Media: Mentions × Readership.
How to interpret Impressions
Impressions show volume of exposure, not uniqueness. If the same person sees your content multiple times, each view counts as an impression.
For example:
If a creator with 1 million followers posts 1 Instagram Reel
Reach = 1M
Impressions = 1M
If the same creator posted 4 Instagram reels
Reach = 1M
Impressions = 4M
Why Impressions may differ across platforms
Some services may over-report impressions by counting every possible load, while others may not distinguish between Reach and Impressions. We clearly separate the two so you can interpret results with confidence.
Why this matters for brand evaluation
Impressions are a critical measure of visibility and content impact. When paired with Reach, they provide a fuller picture of both audience size and content frequency.
